FAQ

  • How many people can join a trip?

Our trips are designed for between 4 and 8 people. However, we will look at creating bespoke trips for a slightly smaller or larger groups.

  • Are the trips customizable?

Within reason, yes. We are super colaborative and we realize that not all riders are as fit as each other. We will always try to cater for the specific groups’ needs within a certain framework. The ‘standard’ trips advertised are a benchmark of what we would like to offer, but amendments can always be made for specific group requirements.

  • Can I join a trip by myself or with a friend?

Absolutely! New friendships are always forged on trips like these and we encourage anyone to reach out. We will try our best to pair groups and riders of similar strengths or ensure that certain riders can ride together on the routes. We’re flexible and will always make sure everyone is welcome.

  • When does 'standard' become 'bespoke'?

When there are less than 4 or more than 8 people from a single group enquiry. If the group is made up of individual bookings, we will wait until the minimum numbers are met before confirming the trip but this does not constitute a ‘bespoke’ trip.

  • Does a 'bespoke' trip cost more?

Generally, yes. But we will communicate and provide cost estimates throughout the process. The same applies to ‘custom’ group requirements, but we will always do our best to make it happen.

  • What is included?

At least 2 hosts. All accommodation and food during the trip. All on-bike requirements, such as water, snacks, supplements, tools, basic spares and first-aid. All transfers during the trip. The odd alcoholic beverage along the way. A link to a folder of photographs. A goodie bag full of goodies!

  • what is not included?

Flights, bike rentals, alcoholic beverages and medical insurance. Extra snacks and meals bought at convenience stores along the routes. Spare kit, spare wheels or groupset components. We will carry certain service course items but cannot carry everything. Any items needed will be costed separately.

  • the service course?

As mentioned, we will carry a few spare items in the case of a major mechanical. If required, they will be available for your individual account. We simply cannot provide all that a rider may need. In the case that we are not able to get a rider on their way, we will rely on the next local bike shop!

  • do you book flights and connections?

Generally, no. It is not something that is included in our trips. However, we are happy to take this on for an additional fee on our ‘Karoo’ trip.

  • Can i rent a bike from you?

We understand that sometimes it’s nicer to not have to travel with your bike. We offer limited bike rental options for our ‘Karoo’ trip. We partner with Community Connect x Standert in South Africa and they have a limited fleet of Standert bikes available. This is not something that is included, but definitely something we can assist with. This is only available on certain trips.

  • what bike is best?

The trips are designed mainly for modern gravel bikes with 38c to 50c tires. Some Touring, Mountain and ATB’s would also be fine.

  • do you share routes?

Of course! We believe strongly that outside is free and anyone should be able to explore. Our routes generally don’t include any private land access and we have discovered them through others’ generosity. If a curated group trip is not what you’re after, you’re welcome to reach out and we would be happy to share some insights in the these areas. But obviously, we would prefer if you joined us!
